A simple modification to make collectibles easier to spot. I just took the original png and added a very noticeable glow.
Copy and paste the file into your Virtual Families/images folder.
Request other mods if you like, in the comments. I’m thinking about doing a money cheat, but honestly, money hasn’t been a problem yet, and nobody’s starving to death. Maybe a few more funky graphic changes.

Step One: Open Virtual Families And Start New Game.
Step Two: Minimize Virtual Families, And Open “Cheat Engine”.
Step Three: Load Virtual Families As The Process In Cheat Engine.
Step Four: Go Back To Virtual Families, And Look At The First “Adoptee”, See How Much They Have In The Bank…
EXAMPLE:$45 A Day./Has $158 In Bank.
Write That Number (158) In The “Value” Section In Cheat Engine, And Click “First Scan”.
(You’ll Get Your Search Results On The Left Hand Side)
Step Five: Go Back To Virtual Families, And Click On “Try Again”
Step Six: When You Click “Try Again”, You’ll Notice On The New Adoptee That The “Money In Bank” Value Has Changed…
Example: $90 A Day./ has $92 In The Bank.
So Now Go Back To Cheat Engine, And All Those 158’s That You Had On Your Left Hand Side, One Of Them Will Have Changed To The New Value, (The Example Being “92″)
So One Of The 158’s Turned Into 92.
Step Seven: When You Have Found That Value Change On The Left, Double Click It… You Will See That Address Go To The Bottom Of Cheat Engine.
Step Eight: Once Address Is At The Bottom Of Cheat Engine, Double Click The “Value”. Mine In The Example Being “92″. When You Double Click, A Box Pops Up Saying:
“CHANGE THIS VALUE TO”
Put Whatever Number You Want.
Example: 999999999
And Click Ok.
Step Nine: Go Back To Virtual Families, And Click “Adopt”. You Will Now See That They Start With A Zillion Dollars. LoL…

for those of you using the cheat posted by Chris, make sure the number your putting into the value box is what your character has in the bank and not what they make per day. the value only changed for what was in the bank.

hey guys to find the remote go to the images folder and find (remote). then make a copy of the pic and change its look. I used ACDsee. make sure to keep a copy of the normal one. put the fake image in the images folder and play the game and look for the shape or effect you did. ( I found it under the stairs next to the bathroom )

Wow, I love the easier to spot collectibles. Great Job. I would like a money cheat, as cheat engine says error everytime I try to use VF’s process. It would be nice to just have a file or something I install myself for money, and it would help all that are having a hard time with cheat engine.

I finally got it to work. It was the SECOND time you opened the VF process!
Anyway, I got it to work for the existing games as well. No need to restart!

In other words, using Chris’s directions, insert under #4:
Click to open the SECOND instance of VF.exe in Processes. Then keeping the same value in the window, click New Scan, and then First Scan. Proceed to step #5.
This is the ONLY way I got it to work.
Now, to give your existing folks more money, Use the same scan results you got for your new family. In VF window, open up your existing family, pause the game. Now enter the EXACT AMOUNT of money you have in the bank. New Scan, First Scan. Alter that result as Chris describes. If you get more than one result, go back to VF window, unpause the game and buy something. Pause the game and enter that new amount in the bank into CE and click Next Scan. Alter the amount as above.
I wish I could do video, but I;m not that good. LOL
If you need step by step, let me know and I’ll type it out.

I forgot to add that you have to change the ‘VALUE TYPE” TO FLOAT, and select Rounded (extreme) to make find the “existing family” bank amount.

I have the same problem. Trying to open the process says error cannot open this process. There was only 1 process for vf, and it is ver 1.00.5. I did manage to get it open by the open file button, but when trying to scan, it says no memory available. I’m about to give up! What is going wrong?

You must open the first process, do the First Scan, and THEN open the second process, and click New Scan, then First Scan again. I was having the same problem.

Apparently no one is listening (reading)… I FULLY understand how to do it. BUT, No matter what process I open, it says ERROR and stops right there. I CAN’T even get to the scan part. I even tried different makers of the game (Gamehouse, Reflexive, and 3 different cracked versions) and all says ERROR when I TRY to open the process.
Also, for the second time, it IS version 1.00.5, but there is only one process for it. Not sure how I could accomplish opening a second imaginary process…

When you find that they have passed away and their ghost is about to “wave goodbye” or in the process of doinf so, hurry up and pause the game. Then go to the store and purchase medicine (vancomycin/penicilin/advil)and a new outfit and watch what happens. If you do it successfully the ghost haunts the house for a while. every few seconds you see it doing stuff it use to do. It is creepy!! They don’t know they’ve passed on. Talk about real world meets reality.

I need some explanation, pls help.
I followed all comments about cheating money but seem didnt work well. My cheat engine’s version is 5.5 and I hacked this game by reflexive games hack 01-0009.
So when I process on cheat engine, thare are only 1 process. Virtual families.exe and another one is virtual families.RWG
All your steps work well with Virtual familier.RWG but not working at all for Virtual families.exe
Did I miss some step?

Hi Mansi, there are 9 jpeg images that make up the entire background map in the installation images folder. You need something that can open jpegs, and draw in them. I recommend GIMP with the “photoshop” plugin as an editor. (It’s free!)
You might have to put two images together then cut them up again if you want to change a wall that goes across two different images.
